ANIMEALS PET FOOD PROGRAM

Helping Meals on Wheels Home-Delivered Meals Program Participants and Their Pets Thrive

AniMeals is a pet food program exclusively for participants enrolled in the Meals on Wheels Home Delivered Meals Program. AniMeals provides nutritious pet food to eligible Home Delivered Meals participants who have a dog or cat, helping ensure that no senior has to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their beloved pet – or share their own meals with their furry companion.

HOW IT WORKS

AniMeals delivers nutritious cat and/or dog food directly to the homes of eligible Meals on Wheels Home Delivered Meals Program participants, alongside their regular Home Delivered Meals.

AniMeals helps by:

  • Helping homebound seniors keep their pets healthy and well-nourished.
  • Ensuring seniors never have to go without so their pets can eat.
  • Keeping cherished pets by their seniors’ side—and safely out of shelters.

WHY IT MATTERS

At Meals on Wheels, we understand that for many seniors, pets are more than companions – they are family. They provide comfort, reduce loneliness, and improve overall well-being.

AniMeals helps by:

  • Maintaining companionship and emotional support for homebound seniors.
  • Assisting seniors in staying healthier and less isolated.
  • Enabling seniors to continue caring for their pets with dignity.

ANIMEALS ELIGIBILITY

AniMeals is not a standalone pet food assistance program. It is available exclusively to seniors who are active participants in the Meals on Wheels Home Delivered Meals Program.

To qualify for the AniMeals Program, individuals must:

  • Be an active participant of Meals on Wheels Home Delivered Meals program
  • Have a dog or cat

HOW TO APPLY FOR ANIMEALS

New Home Delivered Meals Program Applicants

Note: AniMeals is exclusively for Home Delivered Meals program participants.

  1. During your initial phone assessment with the Intake or Assessment Coordinator, let them know that you are interested in the AniMeals Pet Food Program.
  2. If you become an active Home Delivered Meals program participant and meet the AniMeals eligibility requirements, you may receive pet food through the AniMeals program.

Current Home Delivered Meals Participants

If you are already receiving Home Delivered Meals:

  1. Notify your driver that you would like to start receiving pet food through the AniMeals Pet Food Program.

Please note: AniMeals is available only to active Meals on Wheels Home Delivered Meals Program participants. Individuals who do not receive Home Delivered Meals are not eligible for AniMeals.
