Brighten a Homebound Senior’s Holiday!

For many of us, the holidays mean a house full of loved ones, familiar traditions, and laughter around the table.

But for a homebound senior, the season can feel painfully different – no family gatherings, holiday shopping, visits from friends, or gifts to exchange. Just another lonely day at home.

That’s where Project Warm Wishes comes in….

Program Warm Wishes is a holiday gift-giving initiative that provides homebound seniors with a special holiday gift delivered alongside their regular meal delivery.

Project Warm Wishes brings warmth and joy to the seniors that are enrolled in Meal on Wheels Home Delivered Meals program.

Many of our homebound participants live alone or have limited contact with family or friends. A thoughtful gift can make all the difference during this special time of year.

• Individuals and businesses donate NEW, unwrapped gifts – such as cozy blankets, personal care items, books, puzzles, and other comfort items.
• Volunteers package the donations into holiday gift bundles.
• Meals on Wheels route drivers deliver gift bundles to participants during their regular meal delivery, spreading holiday cheer!

For a homebound senior, a holiday gift means so much more than what’s inside the bag! Every donated item helps create a gift bundle of warmth and compassion reminding our seniors that they are valued, remembered, and appreciated.

Project Warm Wishes tells seniors:

• Senior health kits
• Microwaveable hand warmers
• Wrap-around neck pillow
• First-aid kits

WRITING & STATIONERY

• Notebooks/journals
• Stationery/notecards
• Pens/pencils
• Large-print calendars
• Note pads/Post-it-Notes
• Highlighter pens

For the dignity, safety, and well-being of our seniors, please DO NOT donate:

• Used or gently used items of any type including puzzles, books, games, scarves, gloves, towels, etc.
• Clothing other than items listed in “Warm & Cozy” section – no pajamas, sweaters, sweatshirts, robes, coats, etc.
• Food products of any type including coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, seasonal cookies/candy, homemade jams/jelly, etc.

Help make every gift safe, thoughtful, and ready to bring holiday cheer!

• All donated items must be NEW, UNUSED, and UNOPENED
• If applicable, items must be in their original manufacturer packaging
• Please do not gift-wrap items – this allows staff to inventory and sort items
• Please check expiration dates on personal-care items
• Avoid items that require complicated assembly
• Avoid items with broken, damaged, or compromised packaging
